Default Cubana IL96 Aircraft - In US Airspace

Cubana will be using Russian built IL96 aircraft this winter on
scheduled services between Havana and Toronto. And yes, the flights are
in US airspace when flying a direct routes between Cuba and Canada.

Why not? US airlines regularly fly across Cuba enroute from the U.S. to
places like Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Kingston, etc.

In the mid-90s, long after both PanAm and the Soviet Union were gone,
Aeroflot was still operating their LAX-SVO flights with an IL-96
(it's a 767 now).

Actually, Pan Am worked their flights at JFK and I'm sure the planes were
inspected while on the ground. And other IL62 aircraft have also served US
points with other airlines, including LOT (Polish), CSA (Czech), etc.
