Does PAL still have this ridiculous policy of demanding comfirmation 72
hrs in advance. If you dont confirm you get bumped off and bad lack if
the flight is over booked as well. I have never known any other Carrier
to adopt such a futile practice.

Try asking them directly.

Does your question relate to domestic or international flights? I know
that by law, all carriers within the Philippines must operate this
policy (and that includes international departures from the
Philippines). The law was introduced because so many flights were
fully-booked, yet departed half-empty because of large numbers of
no-shows.

Aeroflot, Nigerian Airways and many other Turd World airlines still engage
in this practise...

Based on my experience back in 2002, we flew on PAL on the Manila-HKG
route (connecting with United from HKG to Chicago) and never had to
re/confirm the flights. However, it's always best to call PAL directly
to get the most current information. In Australia thier telephone
number is 1300-888-725 and 1-800-4-359-725 for the US and Canada.
