Home Office figures reveal that there were 58 firearms- related homicides in 2006-07 compared with 49 in the previous year. 410 People seriously injured after being shot in 2006-07, more than one a day. 1,444 Young people prosecuted for firearms offences in 2005, a rise of 20 per cent over four years. 8 Young people who have lost their lives in shootings, six in London, one in Manchester and one - 11-year-old Rhys Jones - in Liverpool. 3,000 Firearms incidents recorded in Greater Manchester during 15 months (seven gun-related incidents every day). But surely if everyone had a gun, no one would get shot? Sure just like in Iraq. Everyone has a gun so no one gets hurt. Right. Bagdad is actually safer than DC |

Don't you? Using a newsreader? Why? because I can. It's not the news/mail tool that does the checking. Take my word for it that you can't spread or get virus on usenet. Not unless you download random attachments and run them, or something silly like that. I think we had a similar discussion about mp3s too, didn't we? Hi, while technically not virii if you've got java enabled for your newsreader you can get into nasty loops that'll have you killing the newsreader process I've seen some Javascript code that does that. Finns know better. Hi, is that why there are more machineguns per person in Finland than in the US or even Switzerland? What's the rate of use( leading to murder of innocent victims) per machine-gun owner in those three countries? Oh Oh you can see where this is going 30000 deaths a year by gunshot in USA. Tam As opposed to about 50,000 by car accidents. Ban cars!!!!! As opposed to 450,637 by heart disease. Ban vital organs!!! -- As a person who has had guns pointed at him by complete strangers while travelling in the USA I have a lifelong "respect" for the fact there are 250 million legally owned hand guns in the USA. In both cases I am very lucky to be alive thanks to 1 the dearranged mans weapon being unloaded---he went off to find his bullets!. 2 the armed security guard who was very twitchy with his pump action shot gun. Stood next to the sign that said something about lethal force. He was guarding my camp site!. Tam ....ban shopping mauls..... I know I should not say this--------NRA--------why not make the 250 million hand guns in the US illegal--their only purpose is to kill people. Yes I know the 8 people shot dead yesterday were not shot by a handgun. Tam Hi, they were shot by a thief (the gun was stolen) and a crazy person. that'll make their families happier.... but wait... it didn't really happen. gun control protected the victims! in that particular mall the management of the mall had decided that they would NOT allow legally licensed permit holders to keep and bear arms inside the mall and had signs posted to that affect (a legal requirement). so what we have is gun control contributing to another mass murder/suicide. if the citizenry, that had all already been checked out by the police been allowed to keep and bear arms there it could have ended a LOT quicker and with fewer -innocent- casualties. This is so surreal!!. Tam |
