Default Hotel / Apartment in Central Rome

Would an apartment be cheaper?

I guess I would be looking for 3 star and up, but reasonably priced
and WELL LOCATED is of prime importance, given that we are only there
for 3 days.

Any suggestions or website will be gratefully received!

Last spring, my family and I rented an apartment (the "Balconi") from Doorways,
Ltd.:

It was rather expensive, and I don't know if you can rent their apartments on a
daily basis, but the location of this particular apartment was excellent. It's
a five-minute walk to the Pantheon, perhaps 15 minutes to the Colosseum. Easy
bus access, with a taxi stand within a couple of blocks. Two bedrooms, and I
think there was a sofabed too. Full kitchen with two baths. Highly
recommended.

Hi Brit chick,

Sure, in the 3 star and up, but below EUR 125 a double a night, there's more
to be found, although no free changes or cancellations in that case.
So if you don't mind that, and are looking for a hotel with good reviews
(very few have unanimously favourable reviews), go for.
If you don't mind that, have a look at hotel lirico:
http://www.travelnow.com/index.jsp?p...hotelID=160939
It's well within a mile from both the spanish steps and the collisseum, with
costs for a double around EUR 110 and a triple around EUR 122 a night via
the link above, changes USD 25.

Hope this helps, if not just let me know and let me know any more specific
wishes :-) !

I think it would be hard to find an apartment for a three-day stay.
Usually they rent for a minimum of a week.

A very-well located and reasonably priced hotel is the Arenula. It is
only a two-star, probably because they don't have an elevator. If you
can handle the stairs, this hotel is close to ideal in terms of
location. It is in easy walking distance of the Roman Forum, the
Colosseum, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Bocca della Verità. It is
within half an hour's pleasant walk of the Vatican and the Spanish
Steps. It is an easy walk to Trastevere. For those places that are too
far to walk to, it is very close to the Torre Argentina tram and bus
terminus.

I have stayed there three times, and will surely stay there again in
the future.
