on a ship they tell you to wash your hands and use sanitizer.
Why not put a small 2 oz. bottle in each stateroom?

Perhaps because there is the assumption that the stateroom has soap and
water available there instead?

Oh wait! Did you mean leave them in stateroom for pax to pick up and
carry around with them as they travail the ship? Ahhhh.. if that is what
you meant, I think it is a great idea. (I get those small bottles all
the time at conferences, love them)
At first reading I thought you were speaking of for use in the
stateroom. That was my first response and I posted my reply and then I
rethought it.
Carry on!

That assumes that people will pick them up and use them.

The hand sanitizers we have at the hospital will remind you of every
nick, scratch, hang nail, etc. Which doesn't stop me from using them,
even though I wear gloves. And wash at least 10 or 12 times a day
(small hospital. 9 beds in ER, 2 OR rooms, 6 maternity).

Yes, I did mean to put in your pocket or purse and carry with you. Seems to
me it would be a great preventative.

Such small travel size bottles can easily be obtained at any Walgreens,
Drug Fair, Eckerds, CVS, Walmart, Target, or similar. They are small
enough to pass through security in your carry-on or "pockabook".
