There is a hole, the third eye gives you the ground...if of course the whole
installation provides ground. "Dallas" a écrit dans le message de groupe de discussion : ... The adapters just have two prongs... how are they grounded? -- Dallas |

The adapters just have two prongs... how are they grounded? If they have only two: They aren't. There are two types of electrical appliances common in Europe: class 1 and class 2. Class 1 appliances require a grounded housing. They come with the old German Schuko plug, the housing is connected to the two metal parts on the side of the plug. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schuko Class 2 appliances have a specific internal insulation, they are (in this regard) failure safe and don't need to be grounded. Thus the smaller Europlug with just two connectors is fine. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europlug If you happen to have an adapter that converts a grounded plug into a not grounded plug: Dump it. |

If you happen to have an adapter that converts a grounded plug into a
not grounded plug: Dump it. Oh, and just in case: Don't try to plug a North American device into a European socket, adapter or not, unless the device has "230 Volts" printed on its label. It'll go up in flames. |

Our daughter festooned enough adapters together to get her 110 volt hair curling tongs plugged into a 230 volt socket, and - it worked. It seems that the thermostat kicked in fast enough to stop it from melting. That said - warning - do not try to repeat this. Your mileage may vary. |
