Port Sudan

Has anyone stayed in Port Sudan lately. I am
particularly interested in reasonable budget accommodation.
Also what is the best and most economical way to fly there
from SA. I know it's a long shot but does anyone have any
experience of diving near there.
Any info will be gratefully received

Not so much an answer, but more a request to you! I'm planning an overland trip
(setting off in october) and we want to drive from London to South Africa down
the east coast. At the moment it looks like it might be very difficult to get
boarder crossings from Sudan into Eritrea/Ethiopia (and also Eritrea into
Ethiopia). If you find out anything about these boarder crossings, or could
give me any information once you are in Sudan that would be really helpful. I'm
having difficulty getting any recent info, so anything you have would be handy.
