One day cruise stop in Turkey, do you need a visa?

... .... and I almost did leave my signature line off, but what excuse would you have used then? Likewise, if you want others to second guess your travel agent, don't be so quick to kill the messenger if you don't like the answers you get. John |

One day cruise stop in Turkey, do you need a visa?
"Jeff Gersten" wrote in message ... I have seen contradictory answers to this question? We were in 3 Turkish ports in Oct. 08 on the new Carnival Splendor. There were no obvious requirements for a visa. Having said that, the ship had our passports and we were issued a landing permit, or something like that. We were told to 'not' fill it out, but also not to lose it. We kept our safe and (as others have indicated) had no need of it when we were reboarding the ship at the end of the day. Our ports we Marmaris, Izmir and Istanbul Turkey is a place 'not to be missed'. It was wonderful!! |

One day cruise stop in Turkey, do you need a visa?
For cruise ships calling at Turkish ports, you do not need a visa - except
for the cases below. Since it's just for one day, the ship is granted a 'blanket visa' for the passengers for that day. However... * If you are boarding the ship at Turkish ports (arriving through a Turkish airport). * If you departing after your cruise from a Turkish airport. * If you are staying in the country before or after your cruise. * If you have shore excursion more than one day spending overnight at a hotel. * You definitely need a visa if your ship is spending overnight at a Turkish port. In case you have to leave the ship for an emergency from Turkey, then you need visa, and this can be handled by the ships (cruise Lines) agent. Visas for U.K, Canadian and U.S. Citizens can also be taken at the airport upon arrival.
