No, that would be fraud.

I know that Ryanair has cancelled flights on short notice - but I
don´t think that happens you your route. I know (from TV) of a case
on Hahn/Roma-Ciampino and it was a late flight back to the german hub.
Probably a plane caught problems and had to stay for repairs or
Ciampino closed for night.

Stansted is the main hub they use - most of there planes are based
there, most of the work is done there. The route to Berlin is flown
three times a day at the moment, other airlines are in reach on the
same airport...

Do you have any figures for cancelations ???

Often implies something that hasn't been my experiance, and I would be very
interested to see comparable cancelation figures for different airlines.

you with very few options (or none at all from that airport). Yes, I'm
sure of this - I had to find a flight for someone last month when Ryanair
decided not to fly from Venice that day.

If they cancel with little notice (even a week at busy periods) then
you'll pay much more than your refund to replace your ticket. Hence need
for good travel insurance. (Personally I'd recommend avoiding Ryanair
anyway - I've known too many people who had terrible experiences with
them.)

I've talked to people who have turned up at the airport only to find
that their Ryanair flight has been cancelled. They were told to go home
and apply for a refund.

Having said that, I use Ryanair from time to time and so far haven't had
any problems.

Especially BA with it's luck with industrial action last year.
