Hi there,

38C is pretty rough going. My partner and I have lived in Brisbane for 7
weeks now and have seen 37C on the 2nd day we were here. That sucked!
Since that initial heatwave passed its actually been quite tolerable,
with the temp getting to around 28-32 most days, and dropping to around
18-20 at night...

The worst heat I've ever encountered was 41 in Rangiora in 1991...that
was higher on the 'it sucks' scale than anything we've encountered in
Australia so far! :-)

It was near 44 where I was working yesterday here in Perth, and there's
no aircon in the car. Didn't kill me, I was pretty drenched for a while
there though.

When i went there it ****ed down of rain for 2 Weeks and was not to hot.
That was December 2004

Rain?, we've seen probably 15 minutes of rain since we arrived! My
partner sends me a txt whenever she sees rain at work because its so
rare!

Kind regards,

Chris Wilkinson, Brisbane.

Thank goodness I've not encountered that yet! My first couple of weeks
were the worst...I hate turning up to job interviews with big-ass sweat
puddles on my shirt! I've learnt to turn up early and sit in an aircon'd
cafe for 20 or 30 minutes prior... :-)

Gud story tho

Weve been in Brissie for 4 years and not since 2001 have we seen two weeks
of rain. Sure you wernt just asleep in the shower? Damn I wish that it would
rain for a day or three now though.

Anyreason for the serious crossposting ?

I've actually been waiting with my SLR and some slow speed film to
setup on a mall rooftop carpark near to our flat, so I can photograph
some of the amazing lightning storms Brisbane gets...

Only problem with that is we haven't had any lightning storms, bar
one tiny little rumble of distant thunder 2 weeks ago, which dropped
about 5 minutes of light rain, then dissipated into a fine evening...

Its just not fair! :-)

It's just the wrong time of year, Chris. Most of the electrical storms hit
Brisbane around mid-October to late November.

Hi Chris

Give it time. We went close recently, but Ingrid turned north instead
of south, or you'd have found out what the term "cyclonic depression"
means. Alright, anticyclonic for the pedantic. Not as much wind, but
incredible rain.

I reckon a beer or three first would be a better half-hour spent before
an interview, but then many tend to get upset if you show up to an
interview half-****ed! 8]

37/41C? That's for sissies! :-) On our recent (January 25 through
March 8) trip in Western Australia we had temperatures upto 47C and
mostly 45C or so. No problem at all, except in Karratha and Port Hedland
where the humidity made things bad ("I could have sworn I dried myself
when I came out of that shower!"). Marble Bar was a chilly 45C! [1] :-)
But the beer in the pub was still nice.

[1] We were the talk of the time: "Tourists at *this* time of year? And
two (vehicles) of them to boot!"
