Default Munich Oktoberfest: accommodation in 2nd week?

The Munich Oktoberfest starts this weekend (19 Sept.).

Accommodation is probably fully booked.
But how about if I went in the last few days (29 Sept onwards).
Are there any cheap hotels available?

Barring that -- any other German beer festivals coming up?

No Munich hotel is cheap during Oktoberfest. Monday (29 Sep) to Thursday
(2 Oct) should be available though. Just avoid the weekends and Friday
(3 Oct) that is Germany's national holiday. Try at Muenchner Hotel
Verbund, phone +49 1805 307750, fax +49 1805 307751, email:
or Munich Tourist Office, phone
+49 89 233-96555, +49 89 233-30236, +49 89 233-30237, fax +49 89
233-30233, email

There's nothing like the original.

Have fun.

My friends just booked a room last week for the first weekend. It's costing
them $185 a night. I told them I thought it was a good price. Some of the
hotels, if they have room at all, are going for $250-$300. I think it's the
Apart Hotels and Residence near the Hauptbahnhof.

Altstadtfest in Nurrenberg

is in my opinion a nice one , this year 18-29 September.
a little more silent compared with Munich but I think it's worth a try.
I'm used to see it enroute to Munich and Octoberfest.
This year I think I'll skip the Octoberfest totally and go to other places
in Bavaria instead. One reason , too much smoking in the beertents in my
opinion.

Nuremburg or Stuttgart look interesting... is accommodation difficult
to find, as with the Munich O'fest?

I think in Stuttgart you will have no problems to find accomodation.
Because the Cannstatter Volksfest is by far not as famous as the
Oktoberfest. In Munich are much more tourists from all over the world
who need accomodation. In Stuttgart most visitors are locals, who don't
need rooms to rent. Also you can search the cities around Stuttgart for
room. For example Esslingen http://www.esslingen.de is a nice historic
town - not far from Stuttgart. With the S-Bahn it will only take 12
minutes to reach Bad Cannstatt, where the Volksfest takes place.

The Cannstatter Volksfest is almost the same as the Oktoberfest. Large
beer tents, (drunken) people dancing on the tables, and of course a lot
of beer...
But the beer is a little bit more expensive than in Munich: 1 Maß (1
Liter) 7,20 Euro (in Munich between 6,30 and 6,80 Euro).

Please apologize my bad english.

I haven't faced problem in Nuremberg at that time. Except one year when
there was a garden exhibition but that's not the case this year.
Expect Munich and an area out to Augsburg,Landshut and commuting distances
up to 60km to be crowded but elsewhere Bavaria is rather quiet and ,in my
opinion real nice at that time, to visit.
