Default Viking Cruisers Return

Well here we are in the Ft Lauderdale airport just having ended
another viking Group cruise. The highlight was being able to meet
Jean and Ed O'Boyle, What lovely lovely people they are, Sweet as
could be and a beautiful woman inside and out. I certainly hope they
will join us again. and the Photo Game you suggested was great!

The Ship, Liberty of the Seas was absolutley beautiful and VERY big.
it is the VOyager on Steroids, IT was my 2nd time on her, had done the
Pre- inaugural with the others on here when she first came out. There
was alot of children onboard, and alot of foreighners, the one
employee told me that for some reason this ship in the fleet draws
alot of non americans and they are moving their workers to other ships
if they are NOT bi-lingual. The food on this ship was actually
suprisingly good, Better then just good as a matter of fact. they had
some new items and the beef dinners were good and yes we had lobster
tail one night. Our room was a Junior suite, and let me tell you the
closet was big enough for a bed! so much storage that we did not use
much of it... This room is the size of a hotel room, the Balcony was
large with 4 chairs 2 were chaise lounges and a table and it had
plenty of room for more. We were told they only bring you ice in the
room if you request it, now was this something our room steward made
up I DO not know as others said they had ice.

Pool area was great and the kids loved the H2O Zone alot I saw kids
were out by that pool way after 9 pm. THey all seemed to be enjoying
their Vacation.
We had Vikings in the Belly FLop and one came in 3rd the winner was
built just like a Manatee he could not jump; to belly Flop he just
fell in unreal.... My SO was in it and wore a Santa Hat and some other
fun wear hahahahahha, Charles did not do the Belly FLop this time.
LOL ( stop laughing Tom) We also played the Quest game which is one
of the funniest games to play amazing what people will do and Yes Tom
took of his pants to help the group.. But what happens on the ship
stays on the ship! LOL

We had a medical Emergency coming back from St maarten where we need
to turn the ship around and head to San Juan as a 44 year old woman
had a life threatening emergency they landed a Helicopter onboard the
ship at 11:30pm it was very interesting.
the Capt kept commending his crew which was very nice. They did a
great job, and the woman survived. We went through TS OLGA and this
had some HIGH WINDS and HIGH SEAS but this ship drove like a
Cadillac.... not a problem... But landing a helicopter was a
challenge.

We went to San Juan and we arrived at 3pm kinda Odd to go in late like
that but I hear it is a Refueling stop. We went shopping and to a bar
we have gone to for many years it is a local one called Cafe Guarinex
AKA as the fire eatter Bar, we had a drink sang some songs and played
some instruments.. They have nice new furniture in there hahahaha
Then onto the Parrot Club, I never been there before but wanted to
see it and 9 of us went in and had some Nuevo Cuisine Puerto Rican
food and drinks that was very good.
Then BAck to the ship and shopping on the way there was alot of
Kiosks/Tents with local items that was very nice... then back on the
ship...

St Maarten was great because we had a great Driver for the Day, Lovely
Pearl. Took us to the Ferry for Pinel Island and then came back for us
and took us to Marigot and had lunch and on a tour it was great she
was lovely, then shopping in Phillipsburg.

next Stop was Labadee WOW they constantly are making it better and
better there, THE Ziipline was unreal! and it was just as always a
great beach day. GOod Island.
This was not done for the Itinerary since I think its pretty weak but
the Sea Days are great alot of things to do. The Viking Group is such
a great group laid back and fun loving and we enjoy our yearly jaunts
together, that is the real Highlight...
from the Santa Claus in the dining room on the last night and to the
Snow man and Sleigh ride G string to the fun party in Ed and Kellys
room It was wonderful.

If anyone has any questions about the Ship or Ports do not hesitate to
ask...
Now to the planning of next year.....

Jean YOU will forever be a friend and am glad I finally met you and
yes you and Ermalee remind me of sisters...She just is more feisty!
hahahahaha I did not see you pinching mens butts hahahahaha

TOM K IT was nice to see you are finally liking RCCL! and when you
say the food was better that speaks Volumes

Charles YOU are the best dancer do you know that??? Your debonaire and
never not agree to do things

THANKS TO ALL

Best dancer.......I don't think so.

I miss you all already.

Just to add one thing now, debarkation from the ship was the earliest I
have had and I was not in the first group off the ship. Went to
breakfast after my color was called at 7:00 am! The American Airlines
gates at the Miami airport were the worst I have ever seen. Long lines
and no information. A zoo. On the plus side got on the standby list I
was able to move up to the 11:15 flight. Walked in my door here at 3:00
pm instead of leaving Miami at 2:30.

I hate Miami airport! FLL is much easier to deal with, as ugly as it
is! I once rented a room in Miami airport as I had a very long
layover....sad! But then again, coming back from a cruise is ALWAYS a
BITCH!!!

I have to agree, the Miami airport after a cruise is the worst
experience we ever had and that was before 9/11.

Coming home from a cruise, just allows us to go on the next cruise(grin).

In Fort Lauderdale, I walked up to an outside check in agent who had nobody
in line... gave him my bag, he got me an exit row seat, and I was heading
through security within 2 minutes. My carry on bag did get flagged for a
search - my toothpaste tube had to be tossed...

And the ride from Miami pier to FTL was $17.

I think I really lucked into the FTL thing, even though I did it by mistake.

I don't know if it is the Miami airport or just American Airlines at
Miami that is horrible. In spite of that it worked out pretty good for
me because I was able to get on the earlier flight.

I ended up paying $15 to get to the Miami airport but that is another
story. When I got off the ship I could not find a cab. So I went with a
van driver who was supposed to be meeting someone. I think that was a
story to get into the port and fill the van since he never found them.

Snipped

What a BLAST!!! Susie, you are much too kind and and it was wonderful
meeting and being with you! You made us laugh so much...no wonder your
Viking Groups are such a success! I tell you, if anyone is around you for a
few minutes without laughing ...they are DEAD!!! Your Bob is a gem...even
though you could get his picture ONLY when he was unaware, but you two are
one special couple! I'm glad y'all enjoyed the photo game and we certainly
WILL join you again if the date is right for us. The Liberty is one gorgeous
and humongous ship!

We had Vikings in the Belly FLop and one came in 3rd the winner was
built just like a Manatee he could not jump; to belly Flop he just
fell in unreal.... My SO was in it and wore a Santa Hat and some other

We missed the Belly Flop...DARN! But I did really enjoy the Quest game...Tom
was next to me and what a shock to see him do his strip tease act...Thank
heavens he had a pair of shorts (no, not underwear) under those pants. And
Susie was pretty swift herself....THESE people are veterans and come well
prepared to take it off with out removing their outer garments! For a split
second, I did learn who wears boxers or briefs!!! What a TV ad that would
have made! Pretty Leslie and good sport, Bob, did a spectacular job as
runners! They should have gotten first place for SURE! Bob, you look so
cute with lipstick! That pucker of yours on the ship's video will definitely
get you a Hollywood contract...so watch for a call any day! It was really
fun and the very first Quest I had gone to in my 39 cruises...being with
such a bunch of fun loving bunch made it hilarious.

We went through TS OLGA and this
had some HIGH WINDS and HIGH SEAS but this ship drove like a
Cadillac.... not a problem... But landing a helicopter was a
challenge.

I understand we had 140 ft. waves but the captain did a great job handling
the gorgeous Liberty and tried to avoid the worst of the storm whenever
possible. I loved the movement and really commend the captain very highly
for the way he sped back towards San Juan to meet the US Coast Guard
helicopter for that medical emergency...and we still were able to get back
to a wonderful day at Labadee.. Kudos not only to the captain but to the
outstanding service of the US Coast Guard and the crew! They were great!

We went to San Juan and we arrived at 3pm kinda Odd to go in late like
that but I hear it is a Refueling stop. We went shopping and to a bar
we have gone to for many years it is a local one called Cafe Guarinex
AKA as the fire eatter Bar, we had a drink sang some songs and played

food and drinks that was very good.
Then BAck to the ship and shopping on the way there was alot of
Kiosks/Tents with local items that was very nice... then back on the
ship...

The fire eater was in Pennsylvania, so we were disappointed, but there was
an old man there playing on some sort of instrument and Tom and Charles and
a few others got ahold of it and had the some of our bunch dancing. San Juan
was lovely decorated for Christmas. Some us indulged in some chocolate in a
chocolatier's shop...deeelicious! Then on for some fun at the Parrot's
Club...

next Stop was Labadee WOW they constantly are making it better and
better there, THE Ziipline was unreal! and it was just as always a
great beach day. GOod Island.

I agree, Labadee had come a long way from when we visited it many years ago.
The beach was lovely with lots of shade trees and palms to place your
lounges under...Even got a light tan...but speaking of tans..Leslie got a
very even and beautiful one. What pretty lady that one is...a beautiful
smile and so much fun....she must have a time fighting off the men! I
enjoyed our talks and time together.

THAT you will get to see with photos as back up! The Viking hats, the Mickey
Mouse hats and the Christmas reindeer and Santa hats...The waiters got quite
a charge and even would wear the hats themselves! Even our head waiter!
Kerry and Susie know how to liven up a party....they even had a cute white
bear with a Menorrah on his chest who would light another candle each day
when you pressed his paw!
They also had Christmas trees, angels and candy canes on the table! Speaking
of Kerry, she is so perky and the cutest T/A you could imagine...She is SO
short, I had to look way down to find her!! HA!!! Not quite that bad but
she is short! Dale, her hubby is such a cutup! You'd NEVER think he was in
the banking busisness! There were so many very nice people in this group
that we had the pleasure meeting and befriending; Letty and Len, a very
special and sweet couple, Andrea & Glenn, brother and sister who were a hoot
to be around and such very nice people, Kelli and Ed who so graciously
allowed us to party in their suite, Anna and Bernie, whom we did not get
enough time to really get to know but were very likeable along with Bruce
and Lainie, and I'm sorry as I know I must be missing somebody....but y'all
are one grand bunch...Of course being with our old cruise buddies,Charles
and Tom really put the icing on the cake! Special and huge Kudos to our
TAs, Susette and Kelly! You done good!

Susette, RIGHT back at you! I am SO glad to finally meet you! You are very
sweet and more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
Right Erm? Yes, Ermalee is my feisty sister....Momma always did like me
best because I didn't get in as much trouble even when I tried! LOL!

TOM K IT was nice to see you are finally liking RCCL! and when you
say the food was better that speaks Volumes

I would swear that Tom is RCCL's spokesman!!! I still think Carnival's food
is better and Tom and Charles, you MUST go on HAL....There are FEWER older
people on HAL than were on the Liberty...We're not talking about ship
sizes...bit ratio here!!! ;-P

Charles YOU are the best dancer do you know that??? Your debonaire and
never not agree to do things

Even though Charles gives me a hard time and never tells me the truth, he
did was pretty good out there on the dance floor, I have to admit! And
thanks to him and Tom, we got to see the best ice show ever... in front row
seats yet! The skaters came right up face to face to us many times...What a
show!!..Ed and I both agree it was the best show we have ever seen on any of
our cruises!

THANKS TO ALL
Susie

Thanks to you and I MISS you all!
Booo-hoo! ;-(
