Default Cannes and Nice beaches demolished 8 days before the Festival

A lot of money is generated by Cannes' beaches during the Festival. So
the storm that demolished restaurants along the coast is very bad news.

Yesterday afternoon and last night.

That webcam is very relaxing, by the way! There used to be one on the
Pantiero, but it seems to be down.

They have reduced the area scanned by the web cam. Could you find the
storm in the previous 48 hours of
recordings?

Good idea, but I don't have the time to look. The TV reports are
impressive enough. There are also some really good photos by "amateur"
photographers (this must be one of the regions with the highest
concentration of cameras in the world).

A friend who lives near Nice told me all the beach cafes have been
washed away. This used to be an annual event on the Dutch North Sea
coast. Since the Dutch raised the level of the baeachs the temporary
prefabricated beach cafes have been replaced by permanent structures.

There's a big debate going on currently, as violent storms are becoming
more frequent. So people that resented public beaches becoming private
eateries resent even more that they are asking public authorities for
money to re-build them. Needless to say, they are a big money-spinner
and create employment.

By pumping sand to increse the height of the beaches, the Dutch also
increased the area of the beaches.
