Right now, at 1:30 AM, it's 28° C outside. That's seven degrees more
than the normal daily _maximum_ for this time of year. The measured
daily minimums have been increasing by four degrees per day since
Wednesday. The daily increase in temperature since Wednesday has been
much sharper and larger than the daily drop in temperature during the
night.

In our place, built in 1860s, has a fire place in each room. They are small
ones but we noticed that a oak log fire in them will heat the room nicely.
In most of the apartments in our building they have been removed. But two
have large mirrors above them, this being a trick to make a room appear
larger. One has a nice gilt edge on it, the other, some previous owner
painted over. The ceilings have nice plaster moldings. This building
originally had no water, no nothing, so everything was add on decades later.
The wiring is a bit old and sufficiently iffy that we debranch everything
when gone.
