Default M16s and MOLOTOV cocktails been used in BANGKOK

Bangkok Post
19 Mar 2010

Molotov cocktails were thrown at an exhibit tank in front of the
Second Cavalry Division at Sanam Pao on Phahon Yothin road on Thursday
night and gunmen opened fire on two houses in Sukhumvit Soi 53, police
said.

Attackers travelling in three green-yellow taxis threw Molotov
cocktails made from tonic drink bottles and gasoline, with the wicks
lit, at an old tank parked permanently front of the Second Cavalry
Division at Sanam Pao on Phahon Yothin road about 10.45pm.

The attack left pieces of broken glass on the pavement. Nobody was
hurt.

The incident was reported to Din Daeng police on Friday morning as
well as to army chief Gen Anupong Paojinda.

In the other incident, Pol Lt Suchin Pongkhamphan of Thonglor police
station said an unknown number of assailants opened fire at houses
numbers 95 and 190 in Thonglor Soi 3 off Sukhumvit Soi 53 on Thursday
night.

Police recovered 15 M16 cartridge shells from the vicinity of No.95,
which belongs to Surapong Techawiboon, and another 25 spent shells
near house No.190. The owners of both houses are businessmen.

The houses and cars parked at the premises were slightly damaged.

Witnesses told police they saw two men arrive on a motorcycle and open
fire at house No.95 first and then at the other house. They said the
owners of the houses are related.

The owner of house No.190 gave recordings of his CCTV cameras to
police, who said they were still investigating possible motives for
the attacks.

Acting government spokesman Panitan Wattanayagorn said at the 11th
Infantry Regiment on Thursday morning that it was not known whether
the shooting in Thonglor Soi 3 was in any way linked with the prime
minister's house in Sukhumvit Soi 31.
