What's fun for me may or may not be fun for you. Shopping along the
Golden Mile? The Art Institute? The Science Museum? Ball game at
Wrigley Field? Lake front? The Oprah show? Dining?

There are golf courses in the burbs.

Pretty vague question. Depends on what you consider "fun." As to
golf, of course there are golf courses, many, many of them. Most are
in the burbs in all directions, some easily accessible by public
transport, some not. There is at least one 18 hole course in the
city, located in Jackson Park, about a 5-10 minute walk from a Metra
Electric train station. There are probably others in the city that I
don't know of--a little research will find them.

If a golf course is what you are after, stay home I would say!
