Default Airbus A330, noisier cabin than other twin wide-bodies?

Recently I flew transatlantic on an Airbus A330 and while seated ahead of
the wings, when I walked back along the cabin, I noticed the cabin area aft
of the mid-wing area to be unusually noisy, at least to my ears anyway.
I never previously noticed this level of noise on the Boeing 777 or the
757.

Is the A330 inherently noisier, or was I just not aware of this on previous
trips on this type?
Maybe the 777 has a quiter engine type? and the 757 a smaller engine?
