From: "Peter L" Quoted from their web site (http://www.calparksmojave.com/poppy/): This has been a very poor rain year and we have not seen very many poppies or other wildflowers. Same in Arizona deserts ... we need a couple of soaker rains in October and early November to scuff up seeds and get them germinating and if those don't occur (which they haven't the past 3 years) then it's a poor poppy season. |

But just above, it says "The Poppy Reserve Visitors Center
will be open starting Mid-March, 2003." which leads me to wonder if the site's been updated recently. Originally posted by Narnold can anyone tell me what the poppy bloom is shaping up to be this year? thanks I live in the area, and the poppies are not nearly as good as last year. We had a very wet February, and we're getting more rain this month, but I'm afraid it isn't going to change things. Here is a picture I took last week, this was the only large patch of poppies I could see. http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v...m/DSC03742.jpg http://img3.photobucket.com/albums/v...m/1e5f371f.jpg -- Posted via http://britishexpats.com |
