The most obnoxious people I met were some young men who were making asses of themselves trying to pick up my wife and sister in law, and when I showed up they got into a car with NY plates. This was very cute. Chatting up you = very pleasant. Chatting up your wife = obnoxious asses. Though I know you didn't mean it to sound like that. Pleasant conversation is pleasant. The guys were drunk, loud, profane and belligerent. And they weren't locals. They were American tourists. |

visiting Niagara
We went to Niagara this past summer and really enjoyed it. Although you can
see the falls "at eye level", it is much more impressive to see it on The Maid of the Mist boat. They give you plastic ponchos to keep your clothes dry, but your arms, legs, and face get soaked from the "mist". The noise from the falls and the power of the water hitting the river down below are truly awesome. There is a ramp that goes down to the boats, so that would make it wheel chair accessible I would imagine. There were a lot of little Mom and Pop type motels all over the place that were pretty inexpensive. When you go, be sure to go to the Little Italy section of town. I think it was on Pine Street. They have some excellent Italian food! We drove up to Niagara on the Lake, and it was beautiful wine country. Lots of vineyards. NotL is a pretty little town where everything is beautifully landscaped. Lots of cute little stores with a lot of merchandise that the shopkeepers are real proud of (in other words, expensive!), but it was worth seeing. Have fun! |
