As both my DH and son were at one time bar tenders in addition to their
jobs one of the tips they learned was thus:
When ordering a drink have your alcohol served to you in a shot glass
and your soda, tonic etc served in another glass.
Ergo you know you are getting what you paid for.

I do a similar thing, Sunny. I order coffee (free) and a Bailey's
straight-up. I can usually make 2-3 "bailey's & coffee" (sans whipped
cream) for the price of one drink.
