Default qustions about visit to south africa in august

Hello,

we plan to visit South Africa in August for 3 weeks. We plan to rent a car.

Does anybody know the weather in Capetown, Garden route, wine area. How many
sunny days can we expect?

Can you recommend sites (e.g. cultural, hiking, animal parks) to visit
around Krueger park, Mpumalanga, Kwazulu Natal and Durban.

Regards, Silvia

August is right in the window of the best time to visit Kruger Park,
and I wouldn't miss it. (The grass is lower, the weather is better for
the animals.)

It is also a reasonable time for KZN and Durban, but can be very
chilly at nights. Cape Town will be cold and wet, and Johannesburg
will be bitterly cold and bone dry.

Regards,

Marc - Johannesburg

Hallo Silvia,

On average you should have about 17 days of rain in August - it can be cold
and miserable the whole month. Cape Town and Peninsula is next to the sea so
the temp should never drop below 10 C. If you do have time in the Cape
Province available, rather travel north into Namaqualand for you might have
some lovely flowers by then. Enjoy your visit to SA.
