You're right; I misread ; I'd love to hang out with a rich guy who
supports me in the style that he has become accustom to...g

So if your friend makes 20k and you make 100k NEITHER of you are
considered 'rich' in the sense that they can do anything they might want
to with money.

I make something in that range, do "anything that I might want to with
money" and at the end of each month still have about 40% of my salary left.
Some people don't need a lot of money and can still be extremely happy.

Sjoerd

But, the fact of the matter remains that your posts over the last few years
strongly indicate that you are a very unhappy, hateful person. So maybe your
money isn't salve enough for your emotional wounds and I'll bet the farm that
more money isn't going to alleviate the problem. KM

"Rich" is making a thousand times what you
make.

For you perhaps. For me, "rich" is being healthy, have friends, and have
enough food, shelter, and transportation, and a hot shower every day. I was
as "rich" when I lived on EUR 200 / month as a student as I am today.

Sjoerd

And just as much a malcontent? KM

Oh, what a bunch of propagandistic crap and mindless scare tactics. If

you
really believe things that ludicrous, you should keep them to yourself

for
fear of appearing to be from the lunatic fringe.

[snip: rest of rant]

Difficult eh? Making an argument without resorting to endless sequences
of ad hominems?

Nils

Ever heard the expression, "fight fire with fire" or "turnabout is fair
play"? Your assertion was absolute nonesense without a grain of truth. Those
who make the most strident and absurd attacks are the first to scream like
little girls with spiders in their hair when they get a dose of their own
medicine. You can dish it out, but you can't take it. Double standard? KM

No, the fact of the matter remains that you can't read.

Sjoerd, if you keep posting the anti-America bilge, I'll continue to

decline
to take you seriously. If you can't distinguish "lying" from sarcasm, its

not
my fault.

Sorry, aloha, but you don't have the intellectual capacity for sarcasm.

Oh, do try to keep up. Everybody knows that you experience the most
bliss when you're an indigent infant, living off your mother's teat.
That wasn't the issue. You were talking about your relationship with
others who make a fraction (20%) of what you make. My comment was that
20% is hardly a significant difference compared to the statistical
differences between the real rich and poor. By definition, there are
not "many" wealthy people. Being a simple millionaire no longer makes
you wealthy.

Your comments:
"The Netherlands has many millionaires that can do everything that you
consider to be important.

But for your information, there are many people here in the
Netherlands who worked hard to become millionaires.

I can't speak for "my kind" but I have many friends who have more
money than me.

Ideally, a large percentage of the money earned above say EUR 100,000
should indeed be taxed away.

Just yesterday I was visiting a friend whose monthly income is perhaps
20% of mine, and he has been a friend for 6 years or so."

I'm an economics correspondent for Knight Ridder Newspapers
(www.krwashington.com) writing a story about the impact of the rising
Euro. If anyone has any anecdotes they are willing to share for use in
a story, please contact me. Thank you.

Back to the subject of the thread: The strong
Euro is sure making it expensive to maintain my
daughter in college in the NL!
