Just returned from cruise - don't get it...

Hmmm, so you think that SMOKERS should have veto power over non-smokers?
Come on over to California for a visit, LOL. Then YOU'LL get a breath of fresh
air. But you won't get veto power over non-smokers.

Yesterday we parked in front of the Khan Thoke Thai House Restaurant in San
Francisco. This is a restaurant where patrons remove their shoes to enter the
restaurant and dine. We noticed a smoker on the sidewalk in front of the
restaurant in his stocking feet, a light tan pair of socks that no doubt got
very dirty on the Geary Blvd. sidewalk. He was in such a hurry to get his
smoke in that he couldn't even put on his shoes to go outside, and also walked
back inside in his now-dirty socks, rudely dirtying the floor beneath his feet.

He looked very pathetic, of course, but there is no way that San Franciscans or
Californians or many other jurisdictions are going to go backwards to the days
that smokers, addicted or not, could pollute the air we breathe indoors.

In my opinion, the cruiselines won't ever see it your way.....simple
fact....non-smokers will and can, **** and moan all they like..they even
pretend to follow through on threats not to cruise a certain line, ship,
etc.,... truth be told...they'll cruise, no matter the kicking and
screaming,,,

And now you just have to worry about all the auto and factory emissions that
give many California cities the worst air in the country. As and
ex-Californian I remember the smog-alerts all too well. Unfortunately we
have then in Atlanta now too.

have then in Atlanta now too.

San Francisco has more FOG alerts than SMOG alerts. ;-)

I'm sure we Californians, especially those in Northern California, would frown
on someone backing up their vehicle into one of our indoor spaces and emitting
their noxious crap there.

an issue separate from environmental tobacco smoke, although, if anything, it
would be worse to have both in the same place at the same time, don't you
agree?

household where both parents were chain smokers.

I totally agree, especially as a lifetime non-smoker who grew up in a
household where both parents were chain smokers.
