Default SARS

I just returned from China - lived in Inner Mongolia area for 10 days - as
well as a couple of days in Beijing. I did not see any thing going on with
SARS. It looks like things are in control. The travel from Chicago to
Beijing also showed no particular emphasis on SARS prevention (like those
goofy masks people were wearing).
So- All I can say - is right now- it looks safe.
Tomorrow? Who knows?

SARS killed 251 people in six months.

Malaria kills about 3000 people EVERY DAY.

The mortality rate of SARS is 5% - meaning that if you catch it, you
have a 95% chance of complete recovery.

Am I scared by it?

No.

Believe the facts, not the hysteria.

Do any of you fellow travelers have any concerns about a recurrence of SARS?

Why? Last year 700 people worldwide died from SARS, which is simply a new
strain of the flu virus. Last year in the US alone, 30,000 people died from
the flu. Because the press had something new to jump on hundreds of
thousands of Asian workers lost jobs, economies dropped dramatically and
tourism to this part of the world stopped. With 30,000 flu deaths maybe the
world should stop visiting the US!

Travel on, my friends. Your chances of getting SARS are greater than being
hit by a purple VW Bug while swimming in a pool.

There should be no reason whatsoever for leisure travelling to USA.
