What do you want me to do? Put your pic on a website and post a link is what most people do. Most usenet servers will strip attachments from text newsgroups. -- Andy Sorry, I'm just an IP attorney, not a computer geek. If someone is interested, I can key in the menu and forward the text. Paris Conditions
My initial post was intended to provide current information about conditions travelers may experience in France, Paris in particular. As you may recall, there had been discussions about whether the protests and refinery strikes might affect transportatation and other services. (And in previous weeks, they indeed did! Fuel supplies had been short, and transit systems were slowed. And some travelers apparently took the news reports quite seriously. - Our Continental flight to Paris was almost empty.) The substance of my note was that, despite some continuing protests, conditions seemed generally under control while we were there, and tourists were minimally affected. So, no reason to cancel a trip, as we had considered. (Sorry for the detour re 10-euro restaraunts. - My bad.) Again, for those interested in impressionist art, I highly recommend the current Monet exhibition in the Grand Palais. It's an unusual opportunity to see some of the greatest of Monet's paintings from museums around the world. Jim |

The RER goes through Evian. After seeing what sort of place it is, the idea that what they bottled there was any sort of gourmet alternative to the tap didn't seem very convincing. (A London equivalent might be "Croydon Water"). Eh, Evian is in the Alps, close to Switzerland. |

It is better to have chlorine in the water than hepatitis etc. As I'm sure you know, there's a difference between chloride, and chlorine. Tap water shouldn't contain chloride ions, but it often used to, some years ago on Greek Islands, when the underground aquifers became contaminated with sea water! -- Mike Lane UK North Yorkshire mike_lane at mac dot com |
