Take more / less *'foreign' holidays? Make more movies? Eat more rabbits and less witloof? Drink less booze? Be a tad less insular and racist? Be more politically co-operative. Send less police raids into church properties? Get naked more often? Become boorish? we havent had a boring govt. for 200+ days our pedo priests can bore little kids as well as any in the katholic kirk the driving is never boring.... boring belgian beers are best never had rabbit with chicon....must be a walloonish speciality boorish people eminate from flanders north, i.e.holland er.. I see you too have not quite gotten the idea here. It ain't to say why Belgium is boring (the Belgians, according to Martin), nor is it to say why Belgium is not boring nor give a list of reasons for that... it's what do you think Belgium (&/or Belgians if you like) need to have, or do to shake of the "boring" label oh the irony.....was i boring you? I guess *adding *uk politics misc was your little way of trying not to be; Backfired! you said insular and racist....hence you need uk.politics.misc Oh, so now Belgium is in the UK... how exciting. But, having had a peek at that NG and seen just how heavily populated it is with nut-jobs, I guess you just wanted to bring some "life" in to this thread. But, I hadn't asked what does this thread need to become less boring. so... tsk tsk! Perhaps it was your own little way of saying that what Belgium needs are more lunatics. we have plenty http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinkensport |

So.... if Belgium is boring...
I listened to two interesting podcasts of the In Our Time BBC radop
show on the The Industrial Revolution. In it, it was described that a major reason Britain had The Industrial Revolution was due to its easily obtained coal, for heat-intensive industries. Today, you can see some of this heritage touring through the countryside. The show said Belgium too had a lot of coal and was second in the industrialization after Britain. So is there an Iron Bridge in Belgium? Or some other non-boring early industrialism sites for touring? -- Dan Stephenson http://web.mac.com/stepheda/Home_Page/Index.html |

It hasn't had a government now for 6 months and a lot of Belgians want to see the country split up. OK, let's see if I've misunderstood you correctly. You're saying that that the way for Belgium to shake off the boring label, would be to visit Belgium? Hmm, interesting, though it does sorta imply that those who label Belgium "boring" haven't visited it. Apart from which, I could drive from Cologne to Paris a lot faster if Belgium weren't in the way.. ... errrrr, so would it be less boring if it were bigger? Or the because it's "in the way" it's boring, but less so than the square miles at either end? don't take it too seriously.. |
