Poll... Tried & True - vs. - Something Different
I will continue to try "different" because I love the anticipation of where
the journey will take me. Having said that, I like the extra relaxed feeling that comes over me when I go back to the familiar. Sheila----------found out she prefers Carnival to Princess...go figure ;0) |

That could be! But actually felt less "retired" than my HAL caribbean
sailing I would say. Of course, that could'a been my sailing who knows?? Hi Jeff, FWIW, the HAL Alaska itineraries draw a largely retired crowd. Best regards, Ray LIGHTHOUSE TRAVEL 800-719-9917 or 805-566-3905 http://www.lighthousetravel.com |

Clint, sweetie, every so often you go from being simply annoying to becoming
really disgusting. Congratulations for crossing over the line one more time. DG in Cherry Hill, NJ "clint" wrote in message ... I served in Korae in the 50's. Poll... Tried & True - vs. - Something Different
Tom K wrote:
Just wondering... Some people like Jean like to try a lot of different cruise lines. I seem to find that as I go on more cruises (30+), I get more satisfaction out of going with what I'm comfortable with. I'd rather just go on a Celebrity ship that I like than try something different. Maybe it has a lot to do with who we are. But maybe it also has a lot to do with the types of careers that we've had. I've traveled a lot internationally on business (from Rome to Tokyo to Brazil to Puerto Rico)... so seeing new things isn't that big a deal to me. Or maybe since I'm working on something new all the time... I like some stability when I get away from work. Maybe others haven't traveled on business. Or maybe they have more stable type careers, where they want more experimentation. So what's your preference? After working at your job the past 6 months... it's finally time for vacation. Do you go with what you know and trust, seeking a certain comfort level for your vacation? Or are you more adventurous, willing to try different cruise lines, seeking something new? Everyone probably wants a bit of both... but as you become more experienced with cruising, which do you find yourself preferring? Tom, Personal preferences, experiences, and how one feels at a time and their relationships with others all factor in. I find myself wanting experiences that aren't designed to cater to a formula that goes towards a contrived broad audience. So, I don't do much of what is trendy, though I don't eschew the trendy because it is so. I go to new places that are of a feel like comfortable old places and don't go to old places because they change. I don't seek out a HAL or Celebrity currently, they are different products than what they were when I sought them out. The current cruise industry cycle is not for me, I'll revisit it if and when the business model shifts. For now, small towns and certain types of communities in certain areas are what I seek. Sometimes I want something familiar, sometimes I want to discover something that seems new, but I think the discovery of a nature that may be of a certain essence--and not always comfortable.
