We were on Star in December and loved the ship so much we booked another
cruise on her in November. We heard on our last cruise that the Star will
get updated and get the big screen, like they did with Grand Princess. Has
anyone heard when this is going to happen?

We sailed on the Caribbean P. last November, and kind'a felt they overdid
the
large screen. Way too loud, and they even cover the spas during the movies
for whatever reason. It detracted from the cruise in my opinion, and not
folks
were watching the flicks either.

We just got off the Star Princess & I didn't hear anything about an outdoor
big screen but I did heard lots of complaints about not having sufficient
seating for the other ships. They really need something on the Star since
there's no cinema & the only movies at night were in the Vista lounge on 2
evenings or in the afternoon at 2 PM.

Different strokes for different folks, can not for the life of me
understand why people want to go on a cruise and then sit on a deck to
watch a movie, which is too loud, picture not good quality, and what do
they do if it rains? I
can go to any movie here at home, and sit in comfort, when on a cruise
like to just enjoy the ship

Annie, if it rains you put on a bathing suit and hope that the movie is
"Singing in the Rain" or "Butch Cassidy" where they sing "Raindrops Keep
Falling On My Head"

I can't understand why people go on a cruise ship to sit inside and play
Bingo.

Isn't that enjoying the ship? On the other hand I cannot understand why
people do on a cruise ship & stand in front of a smokey slot machine or crap
table & most often times lose money.

DG:
Never sit inside to play bingo,or do any of the inside things in the
daytime stay out on deck as much as possible and watch the sea. and at
night just love to stroll aroun the deck,do not even visit the casino,
like to cruise just for the sake of being on the ocean

That's one of the nice things about cruising. You can choose to do what
you please. Sounds like the movie thing isn't your cup of tea. It's
simple, really. Don't avail yourself of this ship feature. If someone
opts to view a movie on deck, aren't they enjoying the ship in their
own way? Is the only way to enjoy a ship your way?

The only movie theater anywhere near my house is a drive-in, which we
really enjoy. The picture quality stinks, and you either tune in to the
soundtrack on your car radio or a boom box (that's what we do...sit
outside on a blanket with the portable stereo). Sometimes we get rained
on, sometimes we have to bundle up with several blankets. But, it's
always fun. The movies out on deck appeals to me, just for the fun
aspect of it, not because I'll be experiencing true cinematic
excellence. Just something else to do in the evening.

In the summer time our little town closes Main Street on Friday nights and
puts up a big screen and shows old kid friendly movies. For instance, the
week the new Harry Potter book came out they showed an older Harry Potter
Movie, when the new Willie Wonka movie came out they showed the old Willie
Wonka movie with Gene Wilder. You bring your own lawn chair, set it up, go
to dinner in town. You run into all your neighbors, and the junior high
kids stand at the end of the block and socialize. Parents can linger over
coffee and desert while the kids watch the movie. It's a great way to get
the community out together.
