Default LA tips pls. (accomodation, area)

Just stay away from Latino (the media way of saying, "Mexican") areas.
Latinos are wired for crime and poverty. The latino culture revolves
around: crime, no education past 10th grade, babies, zero interest in
travel/real culture/knowledge, trash, graffiti, chuch (Catholic of
course), more babies, sucking off the system, gangs, more babies, more
sucking off the system, etc. etc.

could walk around a bit without getting mugged right away. I would
also like to be able to have dinner without driving there first.

I need to be able to park my car, get there from LAX without
complicated directions etc.

Santa Monica and Venice Beach will have hotels in your price range and
they are an easy drive from the airport. I like the Best Western Mansion
Inn in Venice Beach; its a brief walk to the beach and in a decent area.
Try looking on the travel web sites such as travelocity, expedia,
hotels.com, etc. to see what's available in those areas in your budget.
