Default Vegas to Grand Canyon - Best way to do it?

We're going to be in Vegas for 5 nights and want to get out to the
Grand Canyon. We'll have a hire car but is it practical to do a
return trip in a day by car? We do not want to take a night stop over
there as we've paid for our Vegas hotel!

What do you recommend as the best way to get there and back in a day?
I hear the helicopter rides are very expensive.

Any advice would be appreciated - it seems wrong to go all the way to
Vegas and not see the GC!

Thanks

Its a 5 hour drive each way via Boulder city then US 93 to I-40
at Kingman and east along I-40 to Williams AZ

I recommend staying the night, your savings on a nights gambling
will likely pay for the lodging while sunset and sunrise over the
canyon are priceless.

That said there are flights for around $180

Driving ten hours each way is not
my idea of a fun trip.

I think you meant to say ten hours round trip.
