Default Aeroflot (SU) Business Class -- YYZ to SVO (and vice versa)

It's a 767 service and ex-YYT (on the YYZ-SVO routing) it is MANY
THOUSANDS of dollars less expensive in business class than any
business class routings via NYC or LON (including an Aeroflot routing
in business class via LHR on the outbound routing and via YYZ on the
inbound). Has anyone flown on Aeroflot in business class between YYZ
and SVO? What are the seats like? Are they sleeper seats like in
executive first on AC? (I have seen what passes for business class on
KLM on their AMS-YVR route, and that particular service was a joke in
April 2004, so I wonder what service might be like on a airline
traditionally considered less consumer oriented.)

There's a ten hour lay-over on the outbound routing and a five hour
lay-over on the inbound, but if Aeroflot's business class service is
o.k. (i.e., as comfortable as AC's Executive First), it is my hope
that a travel agent might be able to finesse the AC business class
flights for shorter lay-overs in YYZ without causing the price to go
through the roof.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Regards,
Maclock

According to a number of web sites, and what appears on the Aeroflot
seat plans, their seats are not sleeper seats in either business or
first class. Their business class seat pitch is listed at 38 inches,
and first class as 55 inches.

Interesting you feel that way. While they don't have sleeper seats,
they have one of the biggest seat pitches offered for standard business
class at 60 inches (55 in their 767s). Other than that, their service
is considered average.

so I wonder what service might be like on a airline
traditionally considered less consumer oriented.)

Aeroflot service is considered appropriate for the price you pay
(average to poor).

James,

Thanks for your reply.

Well, that explains the huge discrepancy in price. Business class on
SU is more like Economy Plus on UA or World Traveller Plus on BA
(although, you are likely to get better food and drink on SU in
business, from what I have read).

As for my observations on KLM's business class product on the flights
that I took from AMS-YVR and back, well, it was more like what you
describe SU's business class product to be like: tight pitch, etc.
(Certainly not 55-60".) More like what passes for business class on
European routes. Perhaps KLM was using planes with a European
configuration for this route.

Either way, if I pay for business class and get glorified economy, I
am not impressed!

Thanks again,
Maclock

While I believe that 767s were used on the AMS-YVR-AMS run when I flew
it, these planes had KLM livery, etc. If Martinair planes
sometimes/always have such trim, then I believe that you have hit the
nail on the head!

Thanks for shedding some light on this matter!

I seem to remember that at one stage KLM was using a Martinair 767 to
operate the YVR route, that would have meant instead of Business class
it would have had Martinair's Star Class which is more like a premium
economy product. I thought KLM adjusted the business class fares
downwards on the route to allow for that. AFAIK it is back to regular
KLM aircraft now.
