Seattle - San Francisco - Seattle
Hi!
Me an my girlfriend are going to Seattle to soon. Between April 8th and until our return flight from Seattle to Europe the 19th we plan to rent a car and drive down to San Francisco. We have to arrive in SF before the evening the 11th. So we have 3.5 days on the trip from SEA to SF. We would like to drive down the coast. After a couple of days in SF, we want to visit Yosemite NP, before heading north again. Do anyone have any recommodations of what the best route for our trip would be? Also appreciate tips on things to see and do. Thanks, Olav H Oslo, Norway |

It's difficult to be too specific without knowing your interests. As Ken
says, go down the coast, stop at the Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport. On the way back, apart from Yosemite I'd pick out Lassen and Crater Lake. The one other place I'd try for is the Eastern entrance to Mount St Helens; you drive through verdant forest for miles and suddenly you round a corner and you are in the blast zone of the volcano. It can probably be fitted in on the way down, or back, depending on your preference. -- ***** *****The "return to" address embedded in this mail is wrong as an antispam measure. Both of which will require you carry and fit tire chains, you may not be able to get up to the rim road at Crater Lake and you'll have to use the South or West entrance as the north entrance will be closed The one other place I'd try for is the Eastern entrance to Mount St Helens; you drive through verdant forest for miles and suddenly you round a corner and you are in the blast zone of the volcano. You'll almost certainly find the road from the Coldwater ridge visitor centre to Johnston Ridge Observatory will still be closed by snow. Do not underestimate the possibility of a late season snow storm, they can be nasty, check the weather forecast and road conditions before heading into the mountains. Keith |
