Default What parts of Aus and NZ would you most want to spend your retirement in?

If money wasn't a limitation, what parts or area/s of Australia and NZ
would you most like to spend your retirement in and why ?

That one's much easier.

I spent ten months in a caravan wandering everywhere between
the SA Yorke Peninsula and Gladstone Qld with exactly that
question in mind - before I answered it, sold my house in
Melbourne and moved to the Tweed Coast.

(no, I'm not a travel agent:-)

Why?

Climate - wonderful.
Quiet coastal, river and hinterland villages (until everyone
else started moving he-)
Close to a major airport (OOL) to visit the grand-kids, or
for them to visit us.
Not too far from medical, sporting and social facilities.
And many other reasons. Surfer's Paradise is further north -
but Paradise is right here.

Only slightly biased:-)

Hey Alan
I am sure you would agree that Pottsville and Brunswick Heads also are close
to the mark of paradise.

Pity i wasn't an investor as i would be buying up in Bruny heads right now.

cheers

Not too late - but they are rising fast. I ended up in
Pottsville in '99.

I don't think that I have a specific favorite place in Australia or New
Zealand. However, I'd love to visit all the main areas of both places.
Sydney and Melbourne for Australia. But If I ever make it to Australia, I'd
also have to spend a few days visiting the Great Barrier Reef.

For New Zealand, I'd want to just tour the country.

I'd also like to spend as much time as possible with the Native peoples of
each place. (as mentioned elsewhere, I love ancient cultures)

It surely depends on how you want to spend your retirement. What are your
interests?
