Default Malaysia to Japan with stopover in Manila

Just wondering what the best option would be for a flight Kuala Lumpur -
Manila - Osaka - Tokyo - Manila - Kuala Lumpuer:

1. KUL-MNL-KUL with Air Asia + Philippines airline MNL-OSA-TYO-MNL (or
Japanese airline?)
2. KUL-MNL-OSA + TYO-MNL-KUL with Philippines airline: essentially two
flights KUL-Japan using Manila as a hub and adding a two days stop in
Manila.
3. ...

What would be the best/cheapest option? I would be flying at end of
October for two weeks.

I suspect that option 1 would be substantially cheaper.

However, it may be difficult while in Kuala Lumpur to purchase a cheap
flight from Manila to Osaka and from Tokyo to Manila. To get a good
open-jaw fare on a Filipino or Japanese airline, you might need to be
in Manila to buy it, or maybe you could have a Philippine travel agent
send it to you.

Be aware that Air Asia flights to "Manila" don't actually land in
Manila. They go into Clark, which is about 100kms north. A shuttle bus
service operates to transfer you to Manila itself, but its a bit
tedious to use.
