Default Koala in Australia

You will see them at the Indigiscape Centre at Capalaba (Redlands Shire - 28
km from Brisbane city centre).

More information available at Redland Shire Council web site at:

In the wild on Magnetic Island ...accessed from Townsville Queensland

It's an easy trip by ferry. The recommended koala-spotting area is
along a moderate uphill hike to "the forts" (leftover from WWII).

Magnetic Island's wildlife also includes a bird, the bush
stone-curlew, which is rare on the mainland and described as
"nocturnal" and "cryptic". On the island, however, one came right over
to my cafe table to beg for chips in broad daylight. (No, I didn't
oblige.)

We stayed at Geoffs place (around 7 years ago), and they literally dropped

If you're anywhere near East Gippsland (Bairnsdale - about 3hours from Melb)
go to Paynesville, take the ferry to Raymond Island, and walk/drive around
the bush tracks - it's a small island, easily navigated if you're more or
less fit, but renowned for its koala population. Well worth a visit. Then
have a meal at The Paynesville Pub - also wwav!

I think Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is the best place as they allow you
to really get up close and personal with it. Be warned that if you
dislike the smell of eucalyptus oil...
