Default Ferry North to South Isle

I've heard it cheaper to book trips on ferry from/to two islands in
Auckland than to book on Internet or through travel agency. Arriving in
Auckland from Canada in Feb 2004?
Thanks

That was the situation, but the interislander.co.nz website now has the
full array of fares available. Check out www.bluebridge.co.nz as well -
they will normally be cheaper.

Default Ferry North to South Isle

I recently traveld thru NZ. I was able to get a flight from Auckland to
Christchurch on Qantas quite cheep - prob less then the cost of traveling
down to Wellington and taking the ferry to Picton.

Possible way to do it would be fly Auckland to Christchurch. Use that as a
starting point to tour the south Island and then end up backin Christchurch
and Fly To Wellington and then travel back up to Auckland.

I tried to pack too much in in to short of a time. Remember that the
weather in NZ can change quite quickly, and a lot of thing depent on the
weather - ie Skydiving , skiing (but that is probably out of season now)
Milford sound - on rainy days it can be quite spectacular but misrible as
well (or so I was told - we had a rare sunny day so the water falls were not
as good as they could have been but it was still awesome)

If you are interstedin flying around NZ - virgin will be soon running a
discount airline (Pacific Blue I think) and Air NZ has some cheep flights on
line - but we had to lie and say we were from NZ for it to work on line.

Hope you have an awesome time... make sure you try the Vegimite (I know it's
an Aussie thing) and try V Energy Drink - but if you get addicted to it
you're out of luck back home - they don't sell it in Canada... I've been
looking for it.

Cheers

We booked through the Automobile Association (in NZ). They found us the
cheapest fares at the time. VERY cheap. The big thing, quite frankly, is
book as far ahead as possible. Also, if you are planning to go RT, book it
as a RT, rather than 2 one-ways, and it will be cheaper.

Cheers,

Donna
