Default California to Amsterdam to Edinburgh

I'm leaving in a couple of weeks to fly NWA to Scotland and I can not
find any place searching Google that tells me if I can bring Fruitcake,
Corn Nuts, Kool-Aid and a bottle of Tuaca which is a liquor.
I will have one 3 hour lay over in Amsterdam and then onto Edinburgh.

All the items mentioned will be in original packaged form without ever
having been opened.

Also I take about 7 different prescription medications and I have been
told I can bring them without any problem as long as they are in the
prescription bottles but my inhalers are not in a bottle and the boxes
them came in have been thrown out. Will I be able to bring my 3
different inhalers in the UK with me?

Also this is my first trip out of the united states so any hints or
advice will be greatly appreciated.

God Bless
Patrick

Strictly speaking, you are not allowed to bring in any food item from
outside the European Union and you are travelling from the US. So your
fruitcake and corn nuts might cause you trouble if anyone notices. The
chances are no body will. Why are you bringing these anyway? NWA food
has improved on the international portion. KLM from Amsterdam to
Edinburgh will serve you sandwitches. NWA in any US domestic part in
this trip may serve you nothing more than peanuts however.

BTW since you are travelling long haul for the first time I thought I
should tell you that if you have any dietary requirements like
vegetarian, vegan, low sodium, kosher etc. then make sure you call NWA
to record that in your booking. NWA will serve you appropriate meals
during the international portion and so will KLM in the shorter
European portion. Some more trivia: NWA is one of the few US carriers
that do NOT charge for alcoholic drinks on long international flights.
If you are flying out from Detroit, the chances are you will be flying
one of their brand new Airbus 330's where all seats are equipped with
PTVs (personal televisions). Moreover, those systems are AVOD
(audio/video on demand, meaning you can pause, rewind and forward
movies at will so that you can take comfort breaks when you want). If
you are flying one of their older DC-10s then you will be stuck with an
uncomfortable seat and a main screen movie that may or may not be
shown.

About your inhalers. If you have an asthma emergency while in Edinburgh
(and have no inhalers), then you can seek help in any outpatient clinic
in a hospital run by the National Health Service (NHS). It will atmost
cost you 60 to 80 pounds. I have travelled from the US to the UK with
my inhalers outside the box with no labels and with no prescriptions.
No problems whatsoever. But having them will only help.
Have a good trip.
