thailand :-) a room in the city with/without a/c and stuff costs like
200 baht or less ;-)

As I wrote it was high season and all accomodation on Koh Samui was
overpriced (on Koh Samui over Xmas they double or triple their rates).
But even in low season and in less touristy places you won't get much of
a room for 200 Baht - and in any case not a place where you would want
stay with your wife and baby.

No. That's right. Simple motels and hotels (with aircon, showers and an
icebox) charge around 300-400 bahts for a room a night outside Bangkok and
popular beach destinations (which typically reside on islands). These may be
a bit primitive for western families who can afford much more. In provincial
towns room rates begin from 1000-2000 bahts at the best hotels. In these
establishents the most expensive suites can cost ten or twenty times more
than the cheapest rooms).

In which contains:
At the Bangkok airport they have this dumb subdivision between an
international and a domestic terminal. There is a shuttle bus for
free, but it takes half an hour to do the (short) trip.

There is also an enclosed elevated walkway (air conditioned) which takes
between 5 and 15 minutes depending on your walking speed.
