Default Skyauction cabin assignments

My sister & I are planning a cruise with our four pre-teen daughters
this summer. We'd like to go on the Carnival Paradise out of Miami.
Skyauction presents a huge (almost $2000 savings total) for us. I
want to go for it, but my sister is scared that we will get the worst
cabin assignment with skyauction. What are other travelers's
experience with Skyaution's cabin assignments?? I'm sure it's been
posted before, but I am a newbie to this board and am very tired right
now - too tired to scroll through and read everything!! I totally
appreciate everyone's honest opinion with their Skyauction experience.
THANKS!!!

If you check the better business bureau's listing for them, you may be lucky
to even get a cabin

Have you cruised before? If you haven't you won't get much advice or
support from a consolodator. Find a good travel agent. Carnival's web
site may even have a link to help you find one in your area. An agent
that does a lot of business with a given cruise line usually has some
influence in cabin assignments and seating assignments. If you go with
an online consolodater, your cabin will be ROH (Run of House) or
anywhere on the ship where they have a space to fill in your price class.

Travel agents can also talk with you to help you find the best price for
your budget, and the best cruise for your interests. My TA can usually
meet and beat any price that is out there and with an upgrade in
product to boot.

I haven't done Skyauction (although I bid on a cruise once -- my wife
was out of town and I thought I might check out the then-new Carnival
Spirit), but there are a lot of caveats.

First, you have to win the cruise. Don't think the current price is
the winning price.

Second, yes, you can get the worst cabin in the class.

Third, you may not get the cruise at all, even if you win.

Fourth, make SURE you have included all the extras you have to pay in
your calculations.

Fifth, you are on your own. If you are a first time cruiser you might
well find a TA worth the money. And a lot of people have made
complaints to the BBB about Skyauction.

Sixth, make sure that you have gotten a discount fare quote for the
cruise. Vacations to Go is always a convenient quick place to check
the current standard discount fare.

In my experience, most of the savings on Skyauction are only a couple
of hundred dollars when all is said and done.

Default Skyauction cabin assignments

I just bought a cruise through skyauction and I have had no trouble.
All the rate was included and I even bought insurance cheaper from
them than carnival. I called Carnival and all my arrangements are
fine. I received my tickets already and I sail May 17th on the
Holiday. The only thing I haven't got is my room assignment. Oh well
for the money I am saving I'll take my chances. If you read some of
these reviews you still need earplugs for the people who walk down the
halls late at night.
Good luck Red.
