Queenstown to Christchurch
I have a few weeks in NZ in mid-July next year. At the moment I'm looking
at overnighting at Lake Tekapo whilst travelling from Queenstown to Christchurch on Hwy 8. Is it common for the roads to be closed around that period or would the better option be to drive to the coast and follow Hwy 1? TIA Steve |

Road closures are usually restricted to mountain roads such as the Crown Range from Queenstown to Wanaka (but there is an alternative), or occasionally the road to Mt. Cook. Either through Tekapo or coast road should be fine. |
