Booking a cruise
I'm planning on booking a Carnival cruise for 5 people from New York to
Halifax this summer and I was hoping to get some advice. Is it better to go through a travel agent or direct from Carnival? And does anyone have suggestions on the best things to do in Halifax? Thanks Tom |

Tremendous kiting in Halifaz, actually world renound! You can rent the kites
and equipment on line before you sail. "Tom W" wrote in message ... I'm planning on booking a Carnival cruise for 5 people from New York to Halifax this summer and I was hoping to get some advice. Some of the best things to do in Halifax: Visit Peggy's Cove (absolutely lovely, just arrange with a taxi driver to take you there) Also near Peggy's Cove is the Memorial to Swiss Air Flight 111 Titanic cemetery (there really was a Jack Dawson) Maritime Museum (they have a real deck chair from the Titanic, and lots of dishes, silverware, etc.) Have a beer at Alexander Keith's Brewery Have lunch at one of the places on the wharf Halifax is a great place to visit. |

We could also choose the 5 day with a stop at St. John in NB but there doesn't look like anything interesting there. |

George is 100% square with you and gets you the best deal available. Besides supporting one of the best sources of information on rec.travel.cruises, you'll also be dealing with a person who many of us consider to be a very good friend. George doesn't spam the newsgroup, but has been the travel agent of choice for many of the newsgroup's group cruises and his own "Sleazy" cruises our of NOLA and the later MOAGC's. Nonnymus |

The best sailings are the ones that go all the way to Quebec and the Saguenay River Fjord. While Halifax is great, Quebec is SO much more spectacular. And cruising the Saguenay River fjord is marvelous, there are pods of Beluga White Whales that swim and breach alongside the ship as it sails along the fjord. See if you can find a sailing that goes all the way to Quebec. --Tom |

While there is always that one chance in a million that anything that "Clint" posts contains something of value, he is a known troll and his new MO is posting complete misinformation. Beware. -- DG in Cherry Hill, NJ |

Dont forget to check the big travel websites (like Travelocity) and see what deals they are running. |

Visit Peggy's Cove (absolutely lovely, just arrange with a taxi driver to take you there) That's a long cab ride. How much would they charge for that? It would almost seem worth checking into renting a car for the day, especially if any of the companies have a downtown office. I'm sure the ship offers an excursion to Peggy's Cove? Not that I'm a big proponent of ship's tours, but I just did the Halifax to Peggy's Cove drive this past November. Unless cabs are incredibly cheap, it just seems that there are more economical ways of getting there. Lee |

And does anyone have suggestions on the best things to do in Halifax? What day of the week are you in Halifax? If you're lucky enough to be there on a saturday, definitely visit the farmers market. It's so much more than produce - handcrafts, ethnic foods, baked goods, wines, entertainment...a real Halifax happening. It was a highlight of our Halifax visit. Lee Thanks Tom |
