Car Hire - Germany to Netherlands
I need to hire a car Cologne Airport and retun it to Eindhoven Airport 4/5 days later - anybody know of a car rental company that doesn't charge the one way drop off fees for this sort of booking? Cheers Brian |

You might consider to take the train to Venlo (1 hr 50 min, EUR 16,20, change at Moenchengladbach, hourly connections) and hire the car there to avoid the fee. Depends on how much time you've got to spare. .... Martin |

They all pretty much charge when you reserve ahead of time. If you
feel lucky, sometimes you can find the car rental agencies waiving the fee at the counter if they have Netherlands-licensed cars needing to be returned. I've rented one-way cars a few times from AMS to Germany. Both times the rental agency at AMS charged me the one-way fee, even though I was returning a German-registered car to Germany (both times they gave me different cars than I had reserved, just to get the car back to Germany). The second go-round I argued with the rental clerk at AMS that I shouldn't have to pay the one-way fee, but to no avail. When I returned the car to Frankfurt the rental clerk said "Why did they charge you a one-way fee?" and promptly removed it from my bill! The suggestion to take the train just over the border is a good one, if it works out for your travel plans. bigbrian schrieb: I need to hire a car Cologne Airport and retun it to Eindhoven Airport 4/5 days later - anybody know of a car rental company that doesn't charge the one way drop off fees for this sort of booking? |
