Is there any cruise line, apart from the 6-stars, which DON'T charge an
arm and a leg for booze?

I don't know what you consider "an arm and a leg" for booze. A drink on a
cruise ship costs about what a drink costs at a local restaurant. Granted
that there is a lot more profit based on what the cruise line pays for a
bottle, you are on vacation, and if the cost bothers you this much, stay
home.

I can remember when drink prices on ships cruising out of Australia were half the price one would
pay ashore. Times sure have changed.

Yes, our first cruise was on the Princess "Spirit of London" in '73 or '74,
and booze prices were very moderate. Our next cruise was in 1990... what a
shock!

Lets see that was when cruise prices were way higher than today.
The passengers want to keep cruise prices at 1974 levels.
So how do you suggest the cruise lines make a profit ??
The discount for the trip must be made up somehow.

Why not a buck a whiskey drink or per beer: Since I don't do vin (rouge
ou blanc), I suppose ...uh...$1 for the generics too ?

Consider that a bottle of gin costs around $10, duty free. At $7.50 a
martini...you can work out the markup. That's not selling at a
reasonable profit, it's profiteering. It must be industry-wide. *sigh*

When we started to cruise on the HOME LINES in 1970 we paid .50 for a
can of beer, and .75 for an irish mist. now beer is $3.75+ 15% and an
irish mist or equivelent is $5.75+ 15%
