Snowy Range area of Wyoming
This coming June my wife and I are going to do a camping and driving tour of
the continental divide areas of Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. I have been reading about a portion of the Medicine Bow Mountains called locally the Snowy Range. The book, Moon Handbook for Wyoming raves about this area. However we are starting our trip in Salt Lake and this is further east than I think I want to go. Have you been to this area of Wyoming? It is worth going that far east? TIA. Dick Snyder |

I've been there several times. It's a beautiful area, for sure. Worth a trip all the way from SLC? I'm not sure. It's a long way from the direct line SLC-Tetons or SLC-west side of Wind Rivers. One of the great things about it is that the area right by the road is really beautiful, so its especially nice for people who don't do long hikes. It **IS**, most certainly, worth the time to go through it when going from Cheyenne to Round Rock, or from Denver or Boulder up to I-80 and west. That's why I've been there so many times. It's not generic. I have a vivid memory of what it looks like in my head. Doug McDonald |
