VALENCIA, SPAIN
Hi,
I will be traveling to Valencia, Spain for a day trip in July and was hoping if anyone could tell me any good attractions or restaurants that are good. Also, I was hoping that I could go on a bike tour of the city. If anyone has any good suggestions about a company that does bike tours I would be really great. THANK YOU |

Also, I was hoping that I could go on a bike tour of the city. If anyone has any good suggestions about a company that does bike tours I would be really great. THANK YOU Bicycle Tours:- look at this site www.valenciaguias.com/en/ and ask them for more details, as I am not sure that they do what you want. The tour I took was excellent, mainly down the old course of the river to the City of Arts and Sciences, but it had been arranged for a group. As for what to see and where to eat, it depends very much on what you like and how much you want to pay. One day does not do Valencia justice. Had you not asked about the bikes, I would have said take the Valencia tourist bus from Plaza de la Reina. Tickets cost 12 Euros (in 2005) and are valid all day. From your post in rec.travel air it looks as if you are taking a day trip from Barcelona. If so you may be arriving at the main railway station Estacion del Norte, a striking building which is worth a look. From there walk up to Plaza del Ayuntiamento and further up to Plaza de la Reina and Plaza de la Virgen An alternative route would take you from Plaza de Ayuntiamento along Calle Barcas to Plaza Alfonso el Magnanimo, and along to Plaza de la Reina via Calle de la Paz. The buildings are striking, reminiscent of the prows of ocean liners. The city is having a massive cleanup at present in time to host the America's Cup next year Public transport is excellent. City buses are red in colour, the map is at www.emtvalencia.es - a slightly quirky site. There is also a metro system www.metrovalencia.es Because Valencia is a relatively new tourist destination the number of guide books in English is limited although they are now starting to appear. Lonely Planet is the most comprehensive and Michelin, although slim, has the most photographs. If you can give some more information, then I can post some more. |
