Excess Weight Charges on International Flights
My wife and I will be traveling to Bangkok from Los Angeles in a few
months. I would like to know what international carriers are charging per pound or kilo for excess weight above that allowed for the class of travel. Most don't advertise their excess weight charges and want you to contact them for the bad news. We will be vacationing for a month (including cruise). Depending on what the airlines charge, it might make better sense to take less and pay the high charges of dry cleaning and/or laundry while on vacation. How say you? rg |

Excess Weight Charges on International Flights
Most don't advertise their excess weight charges
Lufthansa's policy is at http://www.lufthansa.com/online/port...nodeid=1333498 Thai Airway's website states that passengers must call for this data. United's policy is at http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,1034,00.html Depending on what the airlines charge, it might make better sense to take less and pay the high charges of dry cleaning and/or laundry You really need to put all of the clothes you'd like to take, along with your toiletries and suitcase, and weight it. Right now you might even be okay, but you don't know. Reduce your weight by not bringing shampoo or soap, as you can buy it there and those items are heavy. Pete |

How say you? rg For travel to/from the U.S. the baggage limits are per piece, and not by weight. You can usually check two bags, each no heavier than about 22 kg (50 lbs) with no charge; thereafter, the charge is by the piece. Jeff |
