You'll need an escape hatch from Oz if Howard stays in power much longer.
By the time he's finished migrants will only come from the UK like in the
50s.

Bali!!!

BUT!! I'd want a guaranteed escape hatch to Australia, in case things
turned bad! As they inevitably will!!

If money wasn't a limitation, what parts or area/s of Asia would you
most like to spend your retirement in and why ?

Malaysia gets my vote.

Good food (Kajang satay, yes, but also roti canai, murtabak, rojak, nasi
lemak, Klang bak kut teh, wanton mee, Ipoh sar hor fan, Penang laksa, and
Ampang yong tau foo!)
Good security.
Good medical infrastructure.
Good transportation infrastructure (North-South Highway is expensive to
travel on, but great!).
Great access to Singapore + Thailand (AirAsia has made travel relatively
cheap).
English is spoken widely.

There are very few parts of Asia that have an infrastructure that
is up to Western standards.

What exactly do you mean by "infrastructure" ?

High speed internet ?
Highways ?
Hospitals ?
Justice ?

How about clean drinking water?

That's a big problem here in some parts of Europe, not in the cities
i mentioned.

Reliable electricity?

Can be easily resolved with a generator

True. But then that's not "infrastructure", is it? You can always "get
around" various problems. That's OK when you're 19 and drunk half the
time. When you get old and lazy and retire you don't want to be
fighting the system like that all the time.

I know exactly what you mean.
Most of these issues you can resolve with a wide network of reliable

friends
and with some money.

At least I don't. ;-)

I hope that i will be able to "fight the system" for the rest of my days.
But maybe you're right, it's some time ago that i was drunk.
;-)

Penang must be one of the best places in the world to retire. But, I
don't like KL.
