Default Security

On entering Ft.Lauderdale port I witnessed a strange happening. We were
stopped for security as were all except for the taxi cabs.
Those cabs with passengers
were stopped but the cabs that had no passengers were allowed to
proceed.
Do they have a sticker on their cabs which allow them access without
ID.?
Seemed not quite right. How easy it would be to drive a cab thru
security sans ID

SUNNY..........just curious

My guess would be they know most of the drivers, but I could be wrong.

I think it's another example of security for show and not for anything else.
Remember, the hijackers all had valid ID's. Asking for an ID without
thoroughly searching the people and contents of the cab just lets you know
who blew up your ship, doesn't stop anything. Fake ID's, especially ones
for a cruise (where there isn't any way the guy checking knows the hundreds
of different types of valid driver's licenses across the country, let alone
all the other forms) are fairly easy to get with $15 and a picture..
