Default Lake Tahoe

One of these days I would like to go the the Tahoe area - spring/summer.
I would fly to Reno as I live in Edmonton.
However I just want a lazy by the lake type trip maybe some casinos but more
just looking at scenery. If any one has any ideas I would appreciate hearing
from you

Thanks

Ian

Tahoe is a huge lake and admiring it from one location is difficult. The
best way to enjoy the scenery is to get out and hike or bike the trails
around and above the lake (especially the Tahoe Rim Trail, which can be
visited in sections).

Accomodations around the lake include casino hotels, condos at ski resorts, a
variety of rental cabins/homes, and your usual tourist hotel/motel chains.
The biggest concentrion of hotels and restaurants is at the south end of the
lake on the Nevada side of the border.

If you're interested in some peace and quiet on the lake, you can find any
number of condos for rent at the north end (around Tahoe City) where it's
fairly quiet (about 45-60 minutes to the Reno airport). The southern end of
the lake is very commercial/busy, and is where the casinos are located (over
the Neveda state line in South Tahoe). If you just want to visit the
casinos, it's a pleasant drive down the lake from the north end, and at any
rate you'll probably want to drive around the lake simply for the views,
especially the west side. There are some nice boat cruises on the lake that
go from Zephyr Cove on the southeastern end of the lake, and one in
particular goes across to Emerald Bay, which is very picturesque.

Enjoy!

Thanks Sally. Wish I could hike but physical limitations dictate a more
sedate journey

The Southeast or "stateline area" is the most heavily populated area. But
lots of motels and condo rentals. Tahoe City is more laid back, and for the
best beach areas, try the Rubicon area on the Southwest / California side.
The casinos are at Southshore / state line and on the north at the Nevada
line region. Lots of little motels and large hotels for rooms. There are
condos for rent all around the lake. All is nice for views. One of the
neat trips is Blackwood Canyon about 5 miles south of Tahoe City.
