Which airlines charge for the first checked bag?

I was really ****ed off at having to pay for checked in luggage last time
I traveled. Are all the airlines now doing it? It is a hidden charge and
might make shopping comparisons faulty if the price of two flights is
within $15, and only one of the airlines has the fee.

USairways was expecially nasty having dropped their beverage service and
charging $2 for a can of soda that doesn't cost them 30 cents. Being dehydrated
on a 5 hour flight isn't pleasant.

over but bought some wine to take back with them. They were 4 pounds

had brought two bags they would have been allowed a lot more extra
weight. That was KLM

a. no all airlines don't. Southwest doesn't

b. what's hidden about it? It's been all over the news forever about
it and all you have to do is go to an airline's website to find out
what they charge.

c. if it were hidden, everyone would have to pay for it instead of
just those like you that use the service. You pay for what you get.
What a concept.

d. Continental serves both drinks and food for no additional cost, so
fly them if that's what you want. They are also the best of the US
airlines so you get a double benefit. Or buy your own and bring it
aboard.

It is hidden in that when I do a flight search, the airline with the $15
charge has an unfair advantage. The cost isn't in the ticket price and is
thus a hidden charge.

Yeah, it's so well hidden that it's only been all over the news for
months now repeatedly and listed on every airline's website. That's
how hidden it is. Completely stupid. All these airlines have gone out
of their way to let passengers know about these charges.
